Sent Home

James, Kacey, and Jaden were sent back home this morning. After Jaden running fever earlier this week, the doctors said he needed to be fever free for one week before his surgery. So, they were sent home to wait a week... he is not supposed to be around anyone until his surgery date. Please pray for them as they wait... pray for Jaden's body to stay healthy and fever free! The doctor has mentioned the surgery date to possibly be November 9th or 13th.

Prayer Warriors Needed

Our sweet cousin Jaden is undergoing his 15th surgery Friday. They are attaching a permanent shunt in the cyst on his brain stem. This should keep the cyst drained and relieve the pressure off of his spinal cord.
Please pray for the doctors and nurses attending to Jaden. Pray for his family as they endure the long wait in the waiting room. And pray for sweet Jaden who is only 19 months old and undergoing his 15th major surgery.
Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice. Psalm 55:17

Boo at the Zoo

We made our first trip to Boo at the Zoo in Ft. Worth this year. With all our hubbies at work, Holly, Kelli, and I decided to give it a try.
The kids were so excited about getting to wear their costumes to the zoo! It was a new experience for all of us, so we really didn't know what to expect. We did know that our mission was to see the animals before they put them up at dark. So off we went!
Our first stop was the gorillas. They were sitting right at the glass, so we got a very close look at them!
Another favorite was the elephants. They were so big and the kids enjoyed watching them throw dirt on themselves.

The giraffes are fun to see. Of course the kids couldn't get over the water with the big gold fish in it to enjoy what was beyond that!

Barrett really wanted to be like the big kids and stand on the fence to see the animals... but he too was more fascinated with the water and fish!
There were trick or treating stations along the way. We had tickets we had to turn in at each station in order to collect the candy.
My sweet puppy and pumpkin!
There were so many more memories made than these few pictures I got. I was busy with getting Barrett in and out of the stroller and making sure Blake didn't get lost in the crowd to get too many pictures. Once the sun went down and the animals were put to bed we enjoyed clowns, music, and lots of Halloween sights!

Although it was hot and the kids ended up shedding some of their costumes before the night was over... they still had a great time with each other! We are so glad we went!

Let The Fun Begin

We kicked off our Halloween season with a pumpkin party at the Moore's house. We always love this time of year and the fun we have!
back row: Preston, Tyler, Brenna
front row: Kinsley, Presley, Jackson, Chaney, Blake, and Barrett
First on the agenda was pumpkin play dough (made by the Moore's). The kids had fun smashing it and cutting out shapes... and it smelled wonderful!

We had a pumpkin dinner complete with a pumpkin shaped pizza...

and delicious cake!

Next the kids got to draw faces with chalk on little pumpkins (which the Moore's painted with chalkboard paint). They loved this fun activity!

But I have to say the favorite for the night was pumpkin bowling! They used their pumpkins to roll and knock down the pins! Barrett just had fun knocking down the pins and standing them back up over and over.

We all had a wonderful night full of new memories!!

October 17th

I can hardly believe it has been 7 years since my Grandma went to her home in Heaven. It was too soon, too sudden, too tragic... we weren't ready. There has not been a day that has passed that my heart hasn't ached from missing her so much. I long for the day I will get to see she and Grandpa again. Until that day comes, I will follow her example and the legacy she left behind, I will treasure all of our wonderful memories, and I will miss her from the depth of my being.

Grandma's favorite verse:
This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

Pumpkin Patch 2009

Saturday was the only day Robert could get off to go to the pumpkin patch. We usually like to go a little later in the month, but rain or shine this was our day! I had been watching the weather all week hoping for a pleasant day. With all the rain that came during the week I knew it would be muddy, but hoped for warm temperatures. The projected high was 68... we never made it up that high though. We put our trip off until the afternoon in hopes of it warming up. It never did warm up but we headed out anyway.

We tried to get a couple of pictures in our pumpkin shirts before we covered them up with jackets!

The boys had fun "driving" the tractor.

Blake wanted to get his face painted again this year. He chose a pumpkin again...

One of his favorite things is the maze. He likes to go through it over and over... each time trying to find a new way out.

The hayride was closed because the route it normally takes was very muddy! The hayride is usually a family favorite so we were a little disappointed we wouldn't get to ride it. The boys had fun on the little train instead though!

We had fun climbing to the top of the hay stack. Blake even got to jump down, which he loved! Barrett and I just went back down the same way we went up... no jumping for us!

We were getting more cold with each activity we did. We decided we needed to choose our pumpkin and head back home.

After a day at the pumpkin patch, the boys were muddy and cold! I wanted a picture in the pumpkins with their pumpkin shirts, so I unzipped their jackets. It was too cold to take them off, so this will have to do this year!

We got our pumpkin,

loaded it up,

and headed home.

Once we got back in our warm car we ate the pumpkin cookies I made the night before and packed as a surprise treat. We had a very chilly, fun day at the pumpkin patch!
