Another Week

It is tradition for the sixth grade class at our school to spend the afternoon on the last day of school at the local waterpark.  It is what they look forward to all year. One last day together before they all go off to middle school the following year.  Well, due to corona, they had to postpone that, among all of the other end of elementary school festivities.  The family that plans and reserves this special outing was able to book a day later in the summer when waterparks opened back up.  Barrett was thrilled!  He had a blast playing with his friends and celebrating the end of this time in elementary school.  Blake was happy to go as his chaperone.
The boys work hard mowing for the majority of the year.  Blake saved some money to buy himself pretty new toy.
A spike in cases has our state having to close some things back down :(
A fun night on the lake for daddy, the boys, and the McGrew fam.

Father's Day

We started the day off at church worshipping.  We are so thankful that our church has opened back up and we get to worship in person with our church family.
There was a chance of rain, so we moved our gathering from Gram and Papa's place to the Gillespie house.
Happy Father's Day to our favorites!

This Week

This week Robert, Kaleb, and Barrett enjoyed an evening of fishing.
All of the numbers and info on the coronavirus are conflicting, so we just don't know what to believe about it anymore.  Because of this, we are trying to balance living somewhat normal lives, yet still being cautious.
We have limited our time at the pool this summer, but do like to go once a week or so.
Another Saturday night taking dinner to daddy at work and checking out the lake.
Barrett had a lot of fun at James' paintball birthday party!  He came home with lots of big bruises!

Learner's Permit

The day Blake has been looking forward to has finally arrived!
DPS finally reopened after being shut-down due to COVID.
He got his learner's permit and was so excited to finally get behind the wheel!
We are proud of how responsible he is.  We can't believe that we are at this stage in life!

Virtual VBS

As with everything else, VBS was modified this year due to the coronavirus.  Our church put together a virtual VBS.
We started each morning off with the the VBS songs lead by our own worship team.
That was followed by our lesson.  It was fun to see Barrett on our screen every morning!
There were discussion questions and the crafts that we had previously picked up.
Although it wasn't the normal VBS that we all look forward to each summer, we are thankful for all of the hard work that our church put into making the virtual VBS!
And I'm sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6

This Week

We took Daddy dinner at work and decided to recreate an old picture.  It was a little harder to cram Blake into the squad car this time.  We basically had to fold him up like a pretzel to get the door shut!

Watching the boats out on the lake.
Another great Sunday at church!

LIT

Barrett has particpated in a year long program at church called, LIT (Leaders In Training).  They volunteer at church throughout the year, along with completing homework and verse memorization.  At the end of the year if they have completed all of the requirements, they get to help with VBS.  Due to COVID, we don't get to do VBS this year.  It will be done virtually.  LIT duties took on a different role to get ready for virtual VBS.  Barrett was part of the team that recorded video segments, he packed the supply/craft kits, and distributed them to our church families.
He worked hard and served our church and families.
Afternoon snuggles for these two.  One was snuggling, the other one trying to play.
Our little baby, Allie Sloan!  Such a tiny little thing!

Kaleb

I can't believe our youngest child is going into 3rd grade this coming school year!
After parenting littles back-to-back for so many years, it's hard to believe that we have officially entered a new phase of life and parenting.
This is the summer that he is transitioning from us reading him a bedtime story each night, to reading a chapter book by himself.

Texoma Shores

Today started off much cooler than yesterday, and remained several degrees cooler throughout the day.
We sat in the shade and enjoyed the breeze, played, swam, and enjoyed our last day at camp.
Setting up and breaking down camp is a full family job.  Today Kaleb started training for the next level up in his responsibilities.
It was the perfect, slow paced weekend away from the craziness and uncertainties of the world right now.  It was just what we needed!
Until next time...

Texoma Shores

We arrived at camp late last night.  We found a great site with a lot of space and a big shade tree!  We got camp set up and then showered and went to bed.  This morning we woke up to a beautiful, sunny day!
It was a hot day, so we spent most of the morning in our lawn chairs under the big shade tree.  After lunch, we went down to the lake to cool off.

After we cooled off, we spent more time under the shade tree.
Today was really warm with a heat index of 100.  It was just too hot to do much more than swim or hang out in the shade.
Once the sun started to set, it cooled off and we were able to get out and enjoy the campground.

The glow of the evening sun on Lake Texoma was beautiful!

The kids love skipping rocks into the lake.

Baxter enjoyed exploring on our walk!
Daddy and Barrett went on an evening jog.
Blake and Kaleb played football at our campsite.
Although it was a warm day, we enjoyed being able to relax and spend time together!  We are looking forward to a cooler day tomorrow though!
