Trick-or-Treat

Headed out to get some candy!
Brynn had to ditch her ruby slippers.  Comfort over fashion for trick-or-treating!
We got to see a few of the kids' teachers dressed up.  They thought that was fun!
Another great Halloween in the books!

Halloween Pictures

Happy Halloween from our crew!
 Our ninja,
 Davey Crockett,
 Dorothy,
 and our classic puppy.

Click HERE and HERE to see the puppy costume worn by big brothers.  It's one of our favorites!

Trunk-or-Treat

We had lots of fun at our church's Trunk-or-Treat.  Kaleb was scared to go because he thought it was going to be spooky, but he quickly realized that it is lots of fun!
We love seeing our friends and cousins there!
We played a few games, played on a few inflatables, and then called it a night.

Costume Day

Costume Day in ballet class.

Character Pumpkin

Brynn is in first grade this year, which means it's time for another Character Pumpkin!  She chose the book, I Love You Like Crazy Cakes.  The assignment was to create a pumpkin to look like the character from their favorite book.  They also completed a story map about their book to reinforce the story elements they have learned in class.
I Love You Like Crazy Cakes - Mother-love is profound, however a baby comes into a woman's life. For Rose Lewis, the journey to motherhood begins with a letter to Chinese officials, asking if she can adopt from the "big room with lots of other babies." The infants in that room in China are each missing a mother, but Lewis is missing something, too--a baby. She travels to China to meet her new little girl and falls head over heels in love. Taking her baby home to America, Lewis introduces her to all her family and friends, and they begin their life together. ~ Amazon

Star Student

Barrett was the Star Student for his class.  He made a poster to take to school on the first day.
He got to bring in a special show-and-tell one day.  He chose the camper he created out of Legos.
We also sent in a guessing jar for a class activity and his classmates each wrote a page to create a book for him.
He got to have a special parent guest on the last day.  I read a story to the class (The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything) and we made a Spooky Sounding Lantern.
It was a fun week for our boy and I know it made him feel special!

Red Ribbon Week

The kids always have fun celebrating Red Ribbon Week the week of Halloween.  We have fun themed days as we promote staying drug free.

Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power
and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,
for everything in heaven and earth is yours.
Yours, Lord, is the kingdom;
you are exalted as head over all. 1 Chronicles 29:11

Wedding

We had a fun night celebrating the marriage of Robert's cousin and his new wife.  It was a beautiful outdoor wedding followed by a delicious meal.
One of the best parts about the night was the fact that it was a very rare date night for us!

The Faces of Adoption

Our church's adoption group is growing in big ways!  We had The Faces of Adoption display, wore blue shirts, and hosted The Drop Box movie for our Orphan Sunday weekend.  We held it earlier than the rest of the world due to scheduling conflicts.
I love seeing all of the families who's lives have been blessed by adoption.  When we helped start this ministry in our church, there were just a few families who had adopted. There are now so many families and so many stories of adoption within our church.
It was amazing to look across the church and see bright blue shirts scattered, all families in our church who have adopted.  The back of the parent's shirts say, "Ask me about adoption".
The kid's shirts say, "Ask my parents about adoption".
Adoption is not an easy road, it's a journey.  Sometimes bumpy and other times smooth.  No matter what the terrain, God calls us to travel it in His name,  to be His hands and feet.

“A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows,  is God in his holy dwelling.  God sets the lonely in families..” Psalm 68:5-6

Heart and Homestudy

Brynn had her 4 year post surgery heart check.  Everything checked out perfectly, so we don't have to go back for 4 years!!!  That is huge!!
Our adoption worker came out for a homestudy visit.  We are a month away from finalizing Kaleb's adoption.  This is also huge!
It's been a big week for us!

#campmcintire

We drove out to Glen Rose after school Friday evening.  We got Camp McIntire set up, and then all went to sleep.  It turned out to be a chilly night and we all woke up cold.  The kids bundled up and headed straight out to play Frisbee.  I drank coffee and waited until it warmed up just a little bit.
We decided to drive over to Dinosaur State Park to spend the afternoon.  I hadn't been there in years and the kids had never been there.

We hopped rocks to get out into the creek to check out the dinosaur tracks.
We headed back to Tres Rios to play horseshoes and tetherball.
We grilled the most delicious camping meal for dinner!
The next morning wasn't quite as chilly.  We played Frisbee and the kids rode bikes.  We went for a walk around Squaw Creek.  The kids wanted to wade and skip rocks.  We just knew one of them would fall and end up soaked, but they didn't!
We got back to camp and relaxed before packing up to head home.
We ate sandwiches and then packed up camp and headed home.
Another weekend filled with time together and new memories!
