Celebrating Barrett

We left for our spring break trip on Barrett's birthday, so we celebrated him when we got home.
He requested dinner and dessert at The Cheesecake Factory for his 13th birthday!
We filled our bellies and had a wonderful evening celebrating our 13 year old!

This Week

A morning back at church after being on the road the week before,
St. Patty's Day,
Kaleb built a stool in BMO's.  He did all of the work, it wasn't a kit!  He worked so hard on it and was so proud!

Home

We woke up early and drove hard so we could make it home in time to pick Baxter up before the boarding facility closed.  We made it just in time!  We were so happy to be reunited!
We had a a great trip and were pleased with our destinations.  They were both such unique experiences and we visited at the perfect time of year.  We love exploring God's beautiful creation!
Until next time... #campmcintire

Goodbye Tucson

Today we packed up and got on the road, Texas bound!
We enjoyed our time here in Tucson!  The Lazydays/Tucson KOA Resort was wonderful.  I wish we had one more day to be able to play at camp.  We didn't get to spend as much time enjoying the campground as we normally do.  It was a great home-base for exploring this area!
The view as we pulled out of camp was stunning!
We traveled all day, through some pretty windy conditions!
After 600 miles, we pulled into our campground in West Odessa.
We stayed hooked on, ready to pull out first thing in the morning!

Exploring Arizona

We started the day at the Pima Air & Space Museum.
The museum features about 400 historic aircraft, from a Wright Flyer to a 787 Dreamliner. Sitting on 80 acres the museum opened its doors to the public in May of 1976. Over the past forty years, the museum has grown immensely and today encompasses six indoor exhibit hangars (three dedicated to WWII).
We ate lunch at the museum and spent a lot of time exploring the outside yard and the indoor hangars.  The boys especially loved seeing all of the aircraft!
We headed to Tombstone, AZ next.
We were excited to see this historic town!
This was such a unique experience!  From dirt roads, wooden walkways, bustling saloons, horse drawn stagecoaches, and Big Nose Kate out cat calling... we felt like we went back in time.
Tombstone is one of Robert's favorite movies, so getting to be here where it all took place was pretty amazing.
The gunfight happened here at the O.K. Corral and spilled out onto the street that we are facing.
We didn't get here as early as we should have.  We could have spent more time enjoying this town.  After shopping and exploring, we ate dinner at a yummy pizza place right in the middle of town and then headed back to our campground.
It was a great day of exploration!
It was a day packed full and we ended up spending more time out and less time at the campground than we had originally planned. We are happy with what we got to see, but wish we had one more day to play at camp.  Tomorrow we are heading out first thing in the morning, Texas bound!

Saguaro National Park

This morning we woke up ready for our day at Saguaro National Park.
The giant saguaro is the universal symbol of the American west. These majestic plants, found only in a small portion of the United States, are protected by Saguaro National Park.
The one-way road through the cactus forest was a very unique drive!  We researched which trails we wanted to hike and parked at the trail-head ready to see these giants up close!
The view of the mountains and cactus forest was stunning!
We were amazed at the size of the cacti! At Saguaro National Park, branches normally begin to appear when a saguaro reaches 50 to 70 years of age. In areas of lower precipitation, it may take up to 100 years before arms appear.  Knowing these plants are 100+  years old makes them even more majestic!
Blake created a picture for us to remember what some of the cacti reminded us of!
The weather was perfect!  Visiting during spring in order to avoid the extreme summer heat was well worth it!
After a full day of hiking and exploring, we headed back into town.  We topped by a local ice cream shop for a snack on our way to the campground.
We ate dinner and then headed to bed.
It was a good day!  We loved getting to see God's unique creation!
