Today we ate breakfast at our campground chuck wagon. This was the day we would bring history to life with our visit to The Alamo. Both Blake and Barrett are learning about Texas history at school, so they were prepping us with history lessons and facts.
The public transportation system was recommended by our campground, so we took advantage of it. The stop was right outside of the gates of our campground, which made for an easy morning. We were happy to get to all ride together and not have to deal with taking our big trucks into the big city.
All of the kids loved getting to see such a well-known place in our state's history.
Blake had just learned about it the week before, so he was a wealth of information! We are thankful that he has such a good history teacher at school. It has become his favorite subject. Barrett learned more about the history of the battle when he returned to school the following week. He was able to make good connections and was very engaged with the knowledge he brought back with him. Brynn and Kaleb loved hearing the stories their two big brothers told and have developed a deeper knowledge and pride in their state.
After we toured the grounds, we went to a nearby mall for lunch.
We strolled along the River Walk as we made our way back to our bus stop.
A live history lesson, followed by imaginative play!
So thankful for #campmcintire, the places we get to explore, and the memories we make!
