River Ranch

Hip hip hooray for camping season!

A long weekend called for a trip to our River Ranch!

 We brought the golf cart and had fun cruising around!

 The Brazos River was full and flowing!

 It stormed during the night, but was beautiful and peaceful the next morning.

 We rode (some on bikes and some on the golf cart) up to play tether-ball and horse shoes.

 We went for a soggy hike around Squaw Creek. 

 No wading in the creek for us this time.  It was way too full!

Instead, the three big kids wanted to swim.  Robert took Kaleb to play on the playground.

The pool was built in 1919 and is spring fed.  It was quite chilly!  The kids didn't mind though.

 The boys were in a bike parade around the park.  They made some new friends and had fun biking and playing with them.

After dinner, we roasted marshmallows for our s'mores. 

 We enjoyed gazing at the stars once the sun went down.  I have an app on my phone that outlines constellations when you hold your phone up to the sky.  It was a beautiful star-filled night.

The next morning we ate breakfast and then went on another hike around the creek.

 We decided to drive into town for lunch and some exploring.

We ate lunch at Big Cup Eatery and then went to Pie Peddlers for dessert.  It was voted best Pie in Texas by viewers of Texas country reporter.  

They were delicious fresh, homemade pies!

 The historic courthouse was built in 1893.

 We also visited Barnard's Mill and Art Museum.

The Barnard's were the first family of Glen Rose.  The mill was the first permanent structure in the Glen Rose area.

 Brynn loved this room!  She wanted me to take her picture and even added a little ballet pose.

 We played cards and rested when we got back to the camper.  

 The boys rode bikes and played with their new friends some more until bedtime.  We decided to come home a day early because of the threat of more rainy weather.

It was another great camping trip in the books for us!

The Library

One thing we've always loved doing during the summer is checking out books at the local library.  Since we had a long weekend, the week before school got out, we went for a quick trip to the library to check out our first stack of books for the season.

Brynn was so excited that it was her turn to get her own library card! 

We are looking forward to many more days spent at the library and lots of new books explored!

Spring Swarm

Cousin C was playing quarterback for the varsity team at the annual spring game.  We couldn't wait to watch our favorite QB #11 on the field!

Looking forward to more games this fall!

Celebrating 17 Years

Robert and I celebrated our 17 year anniversary.  We went out to dinner, just the two of us on the Friday before our actual anniversary.  It was nice to be able to talk without interruption and not have to cut up someone else's food:)

 Our anniversary was on a Sunday, so after church we took the kids out to lunch at Babe's Chicken House so we could all celebrate the special day.

 17 years later and looking forward to many more!

 So thankful for our marriage and the blessing of these four we get to call ours!

We have been richly blessed!

Beautiful Ballerina

Brynn works hard at everything she does... and that includes ballet!  I love watching her dance.  She is full of grace and beauty.

She was presented with her two year trophy in Classical Ballet.

Brynn liked hanging out backstage with some of her favorite dancers.

Daddy gave her flowers and we all celebrated her hard work for the year.
