This and That

We celebrated the 10th week that our church has been reopened since the Corona shut-down.
Barrett had his consultation with the orthodontist.  Braces coming up soon!
We had eye appointments right after the orthodontist appointment.  Barrett got contacts!  It took him a while the first time to get them in, but he got faster each day!
New glasses!
An evening swim!
A bathroom full of shirtless boys after an evening jog!

Son's Island

This morning we ate breakfast in the camper, packed up the truck, and drove 10 minutes down the road to Son's Island!  You access the private island by driving across a 100-foot wooden bridge.  Large cypress trees & cabanas outline the 4,000-foot perimeter lakefront Island.
Tropical trees and plants abound, as well as thatched roof huts, leaving you thinking you’re on a remote tropical Island somewhere!
View of the front of our cabana.
View of the back of the cabana.
There is a picnic table and grill to the side that isn't included in the picture.
We brought Barrett's kayak and rented a tandem kayak for the day.
The Stuarts rented a paddle board, so we were all able to share and swap the equipment with each other all day.
The kids swam, kayaked, and paddle boarded all.day.long!
We stopped playing long enough to eat the hotdogs and hamburgers that Robert and Michael grilled for us.
Blake and Jaxson ate lunch on our private dock.
The rest of us ate in the shade of our cabana.
You can explore the island by making a loop around it on the watercraft.

Our cabana rental was from 10:30am - 6:30pm.  We used every second of that time and had an absolute blast!  We were so glad we were still able to go, even though things were different and questionable due to COVID. We loved this new destination and plan to visit each summer!
The Stuarts went back to their hotel and us to our camper to quickly shower and then met back up for a quick dinner together at the Dixie Grill.

Off We Go

After working through new mandates and restrictions, we finally got the approval to carry on with our plans for a quick getaway!  We booked it at the beginning of the year, before all of the craziness started.
We were looking forward to the time away and so excited to be on the road with our camper in tow.
We stopped for a snack/lunch in West, Texas at the Czech bakery.
We made great time, with no traffic.
We set up camp at River Shade RV Park in Seguin, Tx.
The Guadalupe River ran along the property.
We cooled off and cleaned up in the camper and then set out to meet our friends for dinner.
We drove the 25 minutes to New Braunfels to visit the historic town of Gruene.
We started with dinner at the Gristmill.
Located beneath Gruene’s landmark water tower, in the ruins of an 1878 cotton gin, overlooking the Guadalupe River, the Historic Gristmill has been considered one of the most unique dining spots in Texas for nearly half a century. A rare combination of history, location and turn-of-the-century architecture create the Gristmill’s legendary Texas experience.
After a delicious dinner, we walked around the town.  We had fun shopping in the General Store, Antique Shop, souvenir shops, and reading about the history of the town along the way.
Gruene Hall, built in 1878, is Texas’ oldest continually operating and most famous dance hall.
In the 1800s, Gruene Hall held weekly dances and played host to everything from traveling salesmen to high school graduations to badger fights.  Today, the Hall has continued to be a center for the Gruene and Central Texas social and entertainment scene, and the activities are just as varied.Gruene.  Hall has become internationally recognized as a destination tourist attraction and major music venue for up-and-coming as well as established artists. Since 1975, the Hall has played host to hundreds of celebrities whose pictures adorn the walls.
Due to the Coronavirus, Gruene Hall was closed.  We could only peek in the windows and see the outside of it.  It was disappointing, but we were still glad to be there and see it.
We headed back to our campground after we had walked around and enjoyed the quaint little town.

Happy Independence Day

We spent the 4th very low key this year.
We went to the pool for a little bit.  It was a very sunny day ;)
We took daddy dinner at work and watched all of the boats out on the lake.
Happy Birthday America!

Hello July

Hello July!
We took dinner to daddy again, enjoying the lake view while we were there.
On Blake's way home (on the golf cart) from mowing, he passed some little girls selling homemade bracelets on the side of the road.  He stopped and bought Brynn one with his mowing money, leaving a nice tip for the little girls.
This is how we roll now.
Brynn finished sewing a beautiful apron out of Mulan fabric.  It has a pretty peplum hem and big ties in the back.  She did such a good job!
We aren't happy with the newest order from our governor.
But, we have to follow it.
We are praying for our country.
