Character Pumpkins
October also means Character Pumpkins in first grade! The assignment was to pick their favorite character from a book and decorate a pumpkin to look like it. Barrett chose his favorite book, Lego City, Follow that Easter Egg. He chose the character, Larry. Barrett and Robert spray painted the pumpkin yellow, along with his hat black the day before. After a couple of coats of paint and drying, it was time for his face! Daddy did an amazing job making him look just like Larry! Brynn and I worked on Larry's hat. Barrett had to complete a story map about his book as homework. He had to write the character's name, setting, beginning, middle, and end of the story he chose. They shared what their book was about and their character pumpkins with the class. The pumpkins were on display in the hallway for a few days before bringing it back home to decorate our porch!

Pumpkin Patch
Another fun fall tradition accomplished for this year! We made our annual trek out to the pumpkin patch. This was Kaleb's first trip to a pumpkin patch. It was packed and hot this year! We didn't stay as long, or get to do as much because of it. We still had fun doing some of our favorites! Face painting, hay mazes, hay rides, and hay bale jumping/sliding.

Fair Day
We love October! It is such a fun month, full of fun traditions. One of the things we love to do is attend the State Fair of Texas on our school district's Fair Day holiday.
This was our little guy's first trip to the fair. He did pretty well, considering his allergies are flared up and we pushed him past nap time.
And here we are, McIntire6. I think this would make a lovely Christmas card picture :)
We watched the dog show. All of the kids loved this one!
We were glad our friends could go with us. The kids had a blast together!
The petting zoo is always a favorite!
We let each kids choose one special treat. Blake chose his first bowl of Dippin Dots!
Barrett decided to do the same!
We walked through the Midway on our way to the trains. The kids wanted to watch how this ride worked. As it started spinning around, we saw our very own Cousin C and his girlfriend on it! The kids thought this was hilarious!
We wanted to do the trains since Kaleb is still young enough to enjoy them. All of the kids loved watching them wind through the greenhouse.
Texas proud!
It isn't a day at the fair without a pass through the car buildings. Blake got to play this simulation game. His daddy decided he should give it a try too.
Our toddler was on the verge of having a major break down, so we decided to call it a day.
As we went out the gates we asked someone to snap a group picture. As you can see, the toddler was over it! He was on the run and daddy was trying to hang on to him.
We left hot, sweaty, and tired, but with stories of the fun we had!
Another fun day in the books for this fam!
