Houston- Last Day
This morning, Barrett had to go in line to pick up his trailer at the show site. It was quite an ordeal as there were many projects and kids to pick up. They handed out a number to the students waiting in line. Barrett sat in his truck for over an hour, waiting for his turn to get his trailer.
While he was waiting in line, we hung out at camp, waiting for him. We walked around our campground and enjoyed the pretty morning.
This was Morris' first trip as an only doggy. We were worried about how he would handle it, but he did so well!
Barrett finally made it back to camp, so we all got on the road, headed home.
We had a really great time in Houston, visiting the rodeo and watching Barrett show his trailer! We are proud of him and know that the memories made and lessons learned will last forever!

Show Day
Today is the day that Barrett has been working so hard for. Today, he showed his trailer at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Ag Mechanics Project Show. He got up early to get up to the show site to get his trailer polished and to be ready for the judges to come by.
We parked and then took a bus and tram to get to the place where the show was happening.
We were able to see Barrett getting all of his last-minute details in order before the judges came by. The judges were very thorough! They used flashlights and tape measures to examine every single part of the trailer. Plus, Barrett had to give a small presentation about everything he did and what he was going to use it for. They also spent a lot of time reviewing his notebook.
After the judges had examined it, they huddled to discuss their findings.
They presented Barrett with a red ribbon and gave him a critique card so he would know what he did well and what he could improve on. The red ribbon indicates average or above average, with some room for improvement.
When the judges were done, he was able to go get some lunch. He wanted a Brisket Biscuit from the Biscuit Barn.
We walked around Rodeo Houston and the Livestock Show.
We went back to the camper, and Barrett stayed at the show with his trailer and hung out with his friends and their trailers. We met his Ag teacher, his fellow Ag classmates, and their families for dinner and ice cream to celebrate a successful show.
This picture shows Mr. Sawyer and his AG students following behind.
We are so proud of Barrett's hard work, dedication, and perseverance! It was quite a project, and we are proud of him for bringing his vision to life. He did a fantastic job, and now he can use it to haul lawn equipment.

Houston Day 2
This morning, Barrett left the campground around 6 a.m. to get in line to register and stage his trailer.
We stayed at the camper, enjoying a slow morning. After coffee and a slow morning, we went to some thrift stores. We had fun and found some great things!
After setting up, he and his friends (who were showing their welding trailer) explored and played at the showgrounds. When he returned to the camper, Brynn helped him prepare his Show Notebook.
After watching the Rodeo Houston Semi-Finals in person the evening before, we were interested in seeing how our favorite cowboys and cowgirls were doing. We ordered pizza and ate it at the recreation center in our campground to watch it on TV.

Spring Break: Houston Bound
This year for Spring Break, we drove to Houston for Barrett to show his trailer at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo: Ag Mechanics Project Show. We pulled the camper, and he and Brynn followed us in his truck, pulling his trailer. Blake had to work, so he didn't get to join us on this trip.
We had a wide site, so he was able to park his trailer next to the camper until it was time to stage it at the show.
Barrett's Ag Show responsibilities didn't start until Friday, so we kicked off our time in Houston with a night at Rodeo Houston! The Smithey Family was camping nearby, so we met for dinner and Rodeo Houston together.
Watching the Calf Scramble was a lot of fun!
We had a blast watching the rodeo! Afterwards, Cody Jinks played.
It was the perfect way to kick off our time in Houston!

Trailer Finishes
Barrett brought his trailer home for spring break. He worked many hours finishing it up. He had to put the flooring in, install the lights, and get it registered.
He friend Jake spent a lot of time helping him get it finished up.
Barrett's Trailer In Progress
Barrett has dedicated countless hours to the construction of his trailer. He started the project in October
by making the plans, including the drawings. He ordered the metal in November and made the first cuts on December 9th. He has consistently worked around 15 hours a week on building the trailer since December.

Barrett's New Truck
Barrett works hard mowing and often pulls trailers with his truck filled with lawn equipment. He's also been pulling the trailer he's building more as he takes it to shops for powder coating, etc... His blue Ford struggles to get the job done, especially on the interstate. He was ready for a diesel motor so that he could tow better. He and Blake went out to do a photo shoot with their Rams.
