A Fun Day

We had a fun day when the McIntire family came to visit. We started our day off with a trip to the Children's Museum with our friends.
A little boat ride...

Some grocery shopping...

Dr. Amberly, Dr. Brenton, and Dr. Blake taking care of the animals at the clinic.

Our group of friends who made their mommies happy by posing for the infamous group picture!

When we got home we enjoyed a yummy lunch followed by Daddy and Uncle Robin's birthday cake.

A fun day indeed!

Bath Time

This is what bath time looks like around our house these days.

Humpty Dumpty

sat on a wall... Humpty Dumpty had a great fall...
Barrett didn't actually sit on a wall, but he did have a great fall.  At church this past Sunday he was playing in his class and took a tumble.  He bloodied his nose and hurt his wrist.  The church staff was great excellent in handling the situation.  They came and got me out of the service when it happened and have called and emailed multiple times to check on him.  We monitored it for a day, not knowing if it was just sore, or really hurt.  After a day of him still favoring it we decided to take him in for an x-ray. (We took him after dinner and bath time is why he has on his pj's)
His x-rays didn't show any broken bones.  They are concerned that he may have fractured the growth plate though (this does not show up in an x-ray this early).  They put a cast on him and we will go in a week to get new x-rays at the orthopedic surgeon's office.
The nurse was so good, she even wrapped up Mickey's hurt arm.  Barrett loved that!

Celebrating Daddy

We went out to eat to celebrate Robert's birthday.  The boys just stared when they came and sang Happy Birthday to Robert.  They loved seeing their Daddy get all that attention!
Happy Birthday to Robert!

Made With Love

Duby surprised Blake and made him a pair of pajamas with the fabric she made his birthday quilt out of.

He loves them and was so excited to sleep in them. Barrett wanted me to take his picture too;)

I love Barrett's new "cheese" smile!

Blake all snuggled up with his matching pajamas and quilt.

Bedtime Stories

When we were reading our bedtime stories the other night I had my camera handy. Look at these adorable pictures I captured!

These boys are so lucky to have such a wonderful Daddy! Of course they are reading Barrett's current favorite, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?

And this one is my absolute favorite! Look at the way Barrett is looking at his daddy. Is that not precious?!

Blake and I were propped up on his headboard reading a book together. We just stopped reading for a minute and watched this sweetness unfold!

Snow Day ~ Part 2

School was cancelled today so it was a true "snow day"! Robert called me when he got to work at 6:30 this morning to let me know he made it ok and to tell me about the winter wonderland he drove to work in. He sounded like a little kid giddy about the snow. I got up to check out this winter wonderland he was telling me about.

He was right! There was snow everywhere... this is a picture looking down our road.

Our snow covered house.
The backyard
Blake in his pj's and snow up to his knees! Barrett was on my hip enjoying the sights without getting in it. Of course Blake can't just walk and look at the morning snow. By the time we got back to the house his pj's were soaking wet from falling (on purpose) and rolling around in it.

Our official measurement in the backyard.

A deep footprint

We came back in the house after our quick assessment of things and ate some breakfast. We stayed in the house until after lunch. I didn't really want Barrett out in it too much. He tends to get a runny nose and cough much easier than Blake does. So, while Barrett did this...

Blake and I did this...
Blake's favorite snow activity is throwing snowballs! It felt like we threw 200 snowballs at each other while we played.
We had loads of fun on the sled. This is going to be one sore mommy tomorrow! I tried so hard to pull Blake as fast as I could on the sled so that he could feel like he was really sledding. 45 lbs of him and about 10 lbs of old wood added to about 10 inches of snow... all I can say is wow!! What a workout!

We found a little hill that I pulled him down in addition to just running and pulling him as fast as I could through the snow covered field.

A handful of face-plants for mommy and way more for Blake! We were both laughing so hard! When Blake would fall off the sled the extra momentum would send me flying face first into the snow. We would both end up laid out in the snow laughing like crazy.
Blake discovered the yumminess and fun of eating snow fresh off the ground. At one point I thought he was going to eat the whole field so I made him stop. I didn't want any bellyaches or sickness over eating too much dirty snow!

After about an hour in the snow, a very tired mommy, and a soaking wet Blake, we headed back to the house.

We checked the mail on the way in the house and found a special delivery from Kentucky. We came in the house and opened it up. James, Kacey, and Jaden sent Blake his very own Cards shirt for his birthday! We can't wait for him to wear it! There was also a gift for Barrett that I put up to save for his birthday party next month.

Blake and I put on warm, dry clothes and snuggled on the couch while Barrett finished his nap. Wasn't too long and our little boy was sound asleep on mommy. It is rare that something can drain this boy of energy! A day of fun in the snow and he was zapped.
I am so glad the boys got to experience this kind of snow!

Record Snow Fall ~ Part 1

Wow! We have REAL snow in Texas! It is a record snow fall for us here. We woke up this morning to find a blanket of snow. When I woke Blake up for school I told him I had a surprise. He closed his eyes and I carried him to the door to look out. When he opened his eyes and saw all the snow, his eyes lit up. He said that he thinks God is celebrating his birthday is why it is snowing. I told him he was probably right:) Off to school we went... It continued to snow all day long... never stopping! When Blake and I got in the car to come back home after school, he had big plans for us! He talked about everything he wanted to do in the snow and in what order he wanted to do it. We got home, bundled up, and out we went!

First thing on his agenda was having a snowball fight with Daddy! This pretty much lasted the duration of our time outside. Daddy got a little carried away with the size of his snowballs and even knocked Blake down a few times. Blake thought it was hilarious and tried to get him back.
Next it was time to build a snowman. He really wasn't into building the snowman. He was way more into throwing snowballs and wanting to kick down the snowman.
On our way home from school we stopped by Mom and Dad's house to pick up the old sled. Grandpa built this sled when my mom was a little girl. We played on it when I was little and it snowed like this. I called mom to see if they had it handy so we could play on it. Dad went out to the barn and got it out for us. So this was the next thing on our agenda!

After some fun in the front yard, we headed to the back... where the snow was deep and endless!

Blake was happy to snap some pictures of Daddy and Mommy in the snow.

He wanted making snow angels to be second on our agenda. I told him that we needed to save that for last because he would get all wet and cold. I should have known he would have been wet long before this!
The boys had little rosy cheeks!
The snow was just beautiful! We all four ran around in the snow like little kids! It was so fun to have this powdery, white, deep snow to run, kick, and fall down in!
Daddy and his cold, wet boys.
We sat a bowl out to collect snow that morning. After dinner we brought it in and made snow ice cream.

Barrett taste testing it.
We put some sprinkles on it and boy was it yummy!
Barrett liked it, but he kept blowing it because he thought it was too cold. He thought blowing it would warm it up. I guess he hasn't learned that it only works the other way around :)
I love his cute little teeth and lips in this picture.
We warmed up by the fire and then off to bed we went! The weatherman said we had about 8-12 inches. We didn't go back out to measure what we had in our yard at the end of the night but I know it is a lot!
