Take Me Out To The Ball Game

Robert and I went to the May 23rd Rangers vs. White Sox game for our anniversary date.
The weather was just perfect!  There was a nice breeze and clear skies.
It was Josh Hamilton's first game back after his injury.  He hit a home run first time up to bat!
We didn't notice George and Laura Bush there, until they almost got hit with a foul ball.  They put them up on the big screen after the incident.  They were sitting with Nolan Ryan and his wife.
 The Rangers won 4-0!
We had a wonderful night together!
Thank you to Aunt Mantha and Uncle Bradley for coming over to keep the kids for us!

Memorial Day

Today we remember those who have given their lives for our country.
We have the utmost respect for the soldiers who fight to ensure our freedom.
Our hearts are heavy for the families who have buried loved ones who lost their lives in battle.
We are so thankful for the free country of America that we live in.

God bless the USA!

6 Months

I cannot believe as I type this post, that Brynn has been apart of our family for 6 months.
Nothing I say would accurately describe what God has done in our lives through this little girl and her story.
We have been blessed beyond measure.
Over the last 6 months we have seen her personality bloom more and more.
Her security and confidence have grown.  She gives me a hug then turns and walks right into her class at church each Sunday.  She doesn't even look back.  She knows that I will be back for her.  One of my favorite things is when I come back to pick her up.  She squeals, runs to me, and shouts, "Yay Mommy, yay Mommy!", as she kisses and hugs me so big.
Over the last month she has added so many new words to her vocabulary that I can't even list them!  We have been amazed as we hear her say a new word or short phrase each day.
Although she will eat anything on her plate, her favorite foods right now are: meat, scrambled eggs, corn, and rice.  When we get steamed buns from the Asian Market, she devours them!
She loves to play with her babies.  She carries them around humming and singing to them.  She likes to push them in the baby stroller and feed them bottles.  She likes to pretend they are going night night, covering them up and putting her finger over her lips... shh.  You can also find her playing cars and trucks with Blake and Barrett.
Her favorite songs are: The Wheels on the Bus, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and Jesus Loves Me.  She loves to do the hand motions to the first two and hum Jesus Loves Me.
We have just recently been able to get her to drink milk.  A sippy cup, milk with chocolate syrup, cradled in my arms in the rocking chair.  That is how our girl likes her milk.  This is the only way we can get her to drink milk.  We enjoy this special time with her.  We didn't get to cradle her as a baby and feed her a bottle.  We are perfectly happy doing so now (and so is she)!
She loves to help us do anything.  Whether it be vacuuming, folding clean clothes, setting the table, watering the flowers...whatever it is, she wants to help!
She is very affectionate.  She is always hugging, patting, and squeezing us.
She is not always affectionate with her brothers though.  Sharing toys and space with her brothers is not her favorite thing to do, and she is quick to let them know.
She is still sleeping in her pack-n-play in the corner of our bedroom at night.  This is what she still needs at night to feel secure, so this is exactly what we give her.  She takes her afternoon nap in her bedroom.
She loves to play outside.  She enjoys sliding, swinging, and blowing bubbles.  She also likes to push her own stroller around in the driveway.
She loves Minnie Mouse!  Whenever she sees her on something, she yells out, "Minnie!"
We are excited about experiencing this summer with her.  Many more "firsts" are upon us as summer approaches.
Yes, we have certainly been blessed.
We are thankful for what God has taught us and reminded us of through Brynn AiXin.  We have been humbled, our priorities have been refocused, and our faith has grown.  We have experienced love, grace, acceptance, fear, forgiveness, trust, and happiness.  We are so thankful that we didn't ignore God when we felt him nudging us toward adoption.  If out of our own selfish desires, we had ignored His call or said no, we would have missed out on the pruning He wanted to do in our lives and the immense blessings He had in store for us.  Praise be to God for who He is and for His perfect plan of adoption.  We love you Brynn Olivia AiXin and are proud to call you our daughter and sister!  Happy 6 Months!

Another Baby Post

Yes, this is another post about baby dolls.
We are still getting used to seeing a pigtailed girl with a purse on her arm, pushing a stroller through our house.
For six years we have heard car sounds and have seen the wheels of cars and trucks rolling in our house.
Now to see a little mommy taking care of her baby is something we are still getting the hang of.
We think it is as cute as can be, which is why I am posting yet another baby post!
How fun it is to see cars and trucks rolling through our house and now baby doll strollers too!

Sleeping Beauty

I love sleeping pictures of my kids.
They are so clam, quiet, and peaceful... very unlike their waking hours.
I love studying their faces, looking for signs of the babies I used to feed and rock.
They are growing up too quickly.
Barrett and his mommy have been loosing a lot of sleep lately with the spring storms.  I love these pictures of his peaceful slumber.

Happy Anniversary

Today we celebrate twelve years of marriage.
As we reflect on our twelve years of marriage, we are amazed at what God has accomplished in our lives.  We have experienced the births of our two sons, the adoption of our daughter, deaths, trials, and many reasons to celebrate together.  We are both different people than we were twelve years ago.  I am so thankful that God has taken us through the valleys and over the peaks in order to shape us into the man/woman, husband/wife He wants us to be.  We stand in awe and thanksgiving to our Lord for the last 12 years.  Bring on the next 12 years (and many more)!

Field Day

The end of the school year always brings one of the kids' favorite activities... Field Day!
This year was the first time my own child was participating, which made it a new experience for me.  I went from teacher to mom all day trying to watch my class, while trying to snap pictures of Blake.
This activity was fun to watch!
As soon as we discussed field day, he first request was to wear his sweat band.
This picture came out blurry, but it was cute so I still wanted to post it for my memory book.
 Blake and his friend Emily.
It was a fun day indeed!

6 Month Post Adoption Homestudy

We can't believe that in just a short time we will be celebrating Brynn's 6 month Gotcha Day Anniversary.
Along with celebrating, we have some work that comes along with the 6 month anniversary.  We had our 6 month post adoption homestudy visit.  Our social worker came out to the house for a 1.5 hour visit.  Unfortunately the weather was horrible and she was late getting here.  That is why we have plenty of pictures while we waited for her.
Our social worker talked with us about our time in China and how the last 6 months have been.  She has always been a wealth of knowledge for us.  She reaffirmed how we have been handling certain situations, gave us some advice, and told us how pleased she is with how well Brynn is doing.
She wrote up a draft of her report and emailed it to me for editing.  When the final copy is ready, we will send a notarized copy along with 4 pictures of Brynn and her new life to our agency.  They will then translate it and send it on to China.
As the 6 month anniversary of Brynn's addition to our family approaches, we give thanks for her and the miracle of adoption.  We can't imagine our family without this special girl in it.
